Position Summary

 

The Environmental Regulatory Specialist must be agile, have well developed technical and analytical skills, and have the verbal and written communication skills necessary to coordinate with Clients and other team members and to prepare technical reports and regulatory submittals. The Environmental Regulatory Specialist will ensure all activities and operations are performed in a safe and deliberate manner; and ensure procedural and regulatory compliance. This position involves both office and field work and can be based out of our Cherry Hill, Warren NJ, or Doylestown, PA locations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Working knowledge of federal and State environmental, land use, and construction regulations.
    • Prepare application materials, including the assembly of project drawings, sketches and supporting documentation necessary to apply for and obtain all major construction permits and approvals including, but not limited to, USACE, NJDEP, PADEP, county, and local/ municipal permits.
    • Prepare reports and other documentation regarding existing conditions and analyses of anticipated environmental impacts in compliance with NEPA, SEQRA, coastal area and wetland/water program requirements.
  • Coordinate with federal and State regulatory and resource agencies (e.g., USACE, USFWS, NMFS, NJDEP, PADEP), Clients, Project Managers and Project Designers as required to obtain project documents and discuss required permits and approvals.
  • Prepare project construction permit matrix for each assigned project identifying required permits and approvals, permit schedule and required information needed to obtain permits.
  • Submit weekly status reports to the Licensing & Permitting Manager on the permitting status for all assigned projects.
  • Ability to interpret environmental and construction documents and to develop a proactive approach to permitting projects.
  • Confident working within challenging technical environments and the ability to multi-task, self-direct, and contribute to team efforts under demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork for wetland or other ecological studies is desirable.

Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience with obtaining environmental/ construction type permits and approvals in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, planning, environmental science, construction management or an equivalent field.
  • Excellent communication skills and project tracking skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people, including non-technical staff.
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license
