Position Summary

 

The Computer-Aided Design Technician uses computer software to produce 2D drawings for Site Civil engineering drawings.  The CAD technician works together with the designers, engineers, and CAD staff to prepare project drawings utilizing Auto CAD.  The CAD Technician uses the CAD software to increase the productivity of the designer, improve the quality of design, improve communications through documentation, and create a database for project plans.  They assist in the development of technical plans, reports/deliverables, data gathering, as required to support a project team.  We are looking for candidates to work in our Warren, NJ office.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineers and designers to review design drawings and understand project needs.
  • Follow instructions from the design team to create and modify design drawings.
  • Take verbal directions and prepare sketches in Auto CAD format.
  • Create technical drawings and plans for civil engineering projects.
  • Assist project team in producing technical drawings.
  • Coordinate filing, storage, and retrieval of drawings.

  • Review their own work for accuracy prior to returning the drawings back to manager or other staff.

Qualifications

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Technical Degree in Auto/CAD/Drafting Technology
  • AutoCAD Certification, MicroStation Certification a plus.
  • 0-2 years’ experience as a CAD technician.
  • Ability to read and translate technical design drawings. Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment.
  • Positive attitude with good initiative.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with a curious nature and a strong desire to learn.
