Position Summary

 

The Sr. Highway/Transportation Engineer is a professional candidate who has experience leading design tasks for medium to large scale roadway, transportation, and public facilities projects.  There will be a primary focus on the New Jersey and New York City market, County and local governments and agencies such as New Jersey Turnpike Authority, Port Authority of New York New Jersey, New Jersey Transit, etc.  The candidate should be a team player, self-motivated, energetic and goal oriented, with an interest in an opportunity to grow.

Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for project management to include scope development, contract negotiations, cost control, interdisciplinary coordination, staff management, and quality control on multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Establish working relationships with client technical staff and project managers in the Public Transportation business line within our New York and New Jersey locations.
  • Coordination with project stakeholders.
  • Lead engineering design tasks for public transportation projects from preliminary to final design on both traditional design/bid/build and design/build contracts.
  • Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
  • Prepare reports required by the project development process.
  • Day-to-day communication (verbal and written) with the client.
  • Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers.
  • Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost, and scheduling performance.
  • Support and advise junior engineers and technical staff.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in civil engineering
  • Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in NY & NJ
  • 5+ Years’ experience with transportation, roadways, and facilities
  • Strong experience in project management and budgeting
  • Excellent communication skills
